Springbeauty is not easily confused with other wild plants on this web site.

Springbeauty grows to a height of 40cm. The flowers -  5-8mm across – have 5 scarcely-notched white petals and are borne  in loose clusters on erect, hairless stems. The most distinguishing feature of this plant is its leaves. The basal leaves are long-stalked but the stem leaves are fused across stem. This leaf shape is described as perfoliate. Springbeauty’s habitat is in dunes, on wasteland and disturbed, sandy ground. It is an uncommon, introduced annual and belongs to the Blinks family.

This plant has most recently been recorded in Counties Wexford and Dublin.
