Hoary Willowherb grows to 75cm high. It has pink flowers which have 4 notched petals and a 4-lobed stigma. The flowers are on erect, round and very downy stems. The leaves are grey-green, oval, hairy and the leaf bases do not clasp the stem. It favours damp habitats and waste ground. It has long pods which contain cottony seeds. It is somewhat similar to Great Willowherb but considerably smaller. It is a widespread native perennial and belongs to the Willowherb family.
I first saw and photographed this plant near Slade, Co Wexford in 2012.
